€2,500 annual cap on Microtaches: why, how, and what it changes for you
Why a €2,500 annual cap on bank withdrawals? How do you check where you stand? What if you reach it? Clear answers, official texts, and best practices to avoid getting stuck.
Quick answer: on Microtaches.com, you cannot withdraw more than €2,500 per calendar year via bank transfer. This cap stems from French anti-money-laundering law (Tracfin) and the EU DAC7 directive. It does not apply to gift cards or shop purchases — you can keep earning and spending Ops without any limit.
Where does the €2,500 cap come from?
It's not an arbitrary internal rule: it stems from two EU and French regulatory frameworks that apply to every platform connecting people, including micro-task services.
1. The DAC7 directive (EU tax transparency)
Since January 1, 2023, the EU DAC7 directive requires every digital platform to report user identity and income to French tax authorities (DGFiP) beyond defined thresholds: €2,000 in revenue or 30 transactions per year. Microtaches' €2,500 cap sits just above, securing tax reporting while limiting automatic exposure.
2. French anti-money-laundering law (Tracfin)
In France, any platform paying out to individuals must run a KYC (Know Your Customer) process and report suspicious transactions to Tracfin. The €2,500 cap is consistent with enhanced due-diligence thresholds applicable to non-registered individuals (no auto-entrepreneur status).
How does the cap work in practice?
- The counter starts on January 1 and resets on January 1 of the next year.
- Only validated and paid withdrawals are counted (not pending or rejected requests).
- The cap applies to the net euro amount actually credited to your bank account.
- Shop purchases (gift cards, products) do not consume the cap.
- Once reached, new withdrawal requests are automatically blocked until next January 1.
| Valeur | |
|---|---|
| SEPA bank transfer (euros) | €2,500 (capped) €/year |
| Gift cards (Amazon, Netflix…) | €0 (uncapped) €/year |
| Physical shop products | €0 (uncapped) €/year |
How to track where you stand
On your Withdrawals page, a live counter shows the cumulative amount paid this calendar year, the remaining cap, and the reset date. An amber warning appears as you approach or reach €2,500 — no nasty surprises.
What if you reach the cap before year-end?
- Keep earning Ops normally: missions are never blocked.
- Convert Ops into Amazon, Netflix, Spotify, Steam gift cards — no cap applies.
- Buy physical products via the Microtaches shop.
- Keep the balance for a withdrawal as soon as the next January 1.
- If you are a registered self-employed worker, contact us: a custom regime can be enabled.
What about creating a second account to bypass the cap?
Don't. Microtaches operates an active multi-account detection system based on full name, phone number, signup IP, IBAN and KYC documents. Any bypass attempt leads to immediate suspension of all linked accounts and balance forfeiture. On top, it would expose you personally to tax fraud prosecution.
Is Microtaches the only platform applying this cap?
No. Every micro-task platform legally operating from France must apply an equivalent cap or a DAC7 reporting mechanism. Any platform claiming otherwise is either operating unlawfully or silently reporting your data — which can trigger a surprise tax reassessment.
- Does the €2,500 cap apply to gift cards?
- No. Only SEPA bank transfers are subject to it. You can convert your Ops into Amazon, Netflix or Spotify cards without any annual limit.
- When does the counter reset?
- On January 1 every year, at midnight. The cap follows the calendar year, not your signup date.
- Can I exceed €2,500 as a registered self-employed worker?
- Yes, a tailored regime can be activated upon proof of registration (French SIRET number). Contact support to enable that status on your account.
- What happens to my Ops balance if I can no longer withdraw?
- It stays on your account with no expiry and keeps generating gamification bonuses. You can spend it in the shop or withdraw it once the new year starts.
- Does Microtaches automatically report my income to tax authorities?
- Yes, beyond DAC7 thresholds (€2,000 or 30 transactions/year), we report the amounts to the French DGFiP. You remain responsible for your personal filing.
- Is the cap the same in every country?
- The €2,500 cap applies to French tax residents. Other thresholds may apply to residents of other countries under their local regulations.
