Search “is Freecash legit” and you'll get a mix of Reddit threads that are either thrilled or furious, very high Trustpilot scores, and warning articles. That makes it hard to know who to believe. So we read the terms of service, the official help pages and the press investigations. Our goal is to give you a balanced answer, without promises and without drama.
One important disclosure: Microtaches is a micro-task platform, which makes it an alternative to Freecash. We say so upfront. We also lay out our own limitations further down, so you can compare with all the facts in hand.
Who owns Freecash, and how does it make money?
Freecash is operated by Almedia GmbH, a German company headquartered in Berlin. This is stated in the Freecash terms of service and on Almedia's About page. The site launched in 2020. That's a good first sign, because you know who you're dealing with.
The site includes offerwalls, games with goals, app tests, surveys and cashback offers. Typical examples are installing a game and reaching a certain level, trying out an app, answering a survey, or shopping online with cashback (where part of the price comes back to you).
Freecash rewards eligible completed offers in coins, its in-house currency. According to third-party sources (notably SurveyPolice), about 1,000 coins equal USD 1. That rate has not been reconfirmed on a current official page. The amount shown in the site's “Cashout” tab is what counts.
Is Freecash legit or a scam?
Freecash is not a scam in the strict sense: the operator is identifiable and the withdrawal rules are published. Freecash also publishes payout methods, fees and stated timeframes.
That said, “legit” doesn't mean “predictable.” Three mechanisms explain most of the disappointment people report:
- Earnings can be held and then reversed.
- The first cashout goes through a strict identity check.
- The anti-fraud rules (one account per household, no VPN) can lead to a ban.
On top of that, misleading ads have been reported in Freecash's name, which we cover below. To tell a demanding but legitimate site apart from an actual scam, see our guide on separating legit opportunities from online scams. It gives you a practical checklist.
How does earning on Freecash work, from offer to payout?
Most bad surprises disappear once you understand the path your earnings take. Between finishing an offer and receiving the money, there are several points where things can stall.
- 1You pick an offer
It can be a game with goals, an app test, a survey or cashback. Read the exact requirement: the level to reach, the time limit and the compatible devices.
- 2The partner tracks your activity
The offer may be reviewed before the reward becomes withdrawable. Tracking problems can prevent a reward from being credited.
- 3The reward goes “pending”Variable duration
Some offers are held (“held” or “pending”) while they're reviewed. You can see the amount, but you can't withdraw it yet.
- 4The coins are creditedReversible for up to 90 days
The reward is added to your balance. It can still be taken back if there is a chargeback, meaning the advertiser cancels the payment.
- 5First cashout and ID check
To withdraw, you need to reach the USD 25 threshold and have a verified email. You also need to pass an identity check (selfie + ID document through the provider Veriff).
What this journey shows: a reward you can see is not a reward you own. Until the reversal window has passed and your identity is approved, treat your balance as provisional.
Why are Freecash earnings stuck on pending or reversed?
The help page on held offers explains that some rewards are frozen while they're reviewed. The page on chargebacks adds that an advertiser can cancel a reward up to 90 days after it was credited. When that happens, the reward is removed from your balance.
Freecash also states that a hold may apply if your chargeback rate goes above 10%. In plain terms, if more than one in ten of your rewards gets reversed, the site can block your withdrawals while it investigates.
Reddit posts frequently mention games completed but never credited. These are individual stories, not statistics. Still, the pattern is clear: game offers can take many hours, and some users report rewards that are not credited.
What is the Freecash minimum withdrawal, and what are the fees?
The official Freecash withdrawal limits page was updated in late October. It says the first cashout requires USD 25, whichever method you choose. That threshold may vary by region, and the amount shown under “Cashout” is what applies to you. After the first cashout, each payment method has its own minimum.
| Stated minimum | Stated fees | Stated timeframe | |
|---|---|---|---|
| First cashout (all methods) | USD 25 | Depends on method | Depends on method |
| PayPal | USD 5 to 200 | 5% + an extra USD 1 on USD 5, 10 and 20 | 3 to 5 days |
| Bank transfer | Not published | 5% | 3 to 5 days |
| Venmo | Not published | 5% | Not published |
| Visa | Not published | 5% | Not published |
| Crypto (BTC, LTC, DOGE) | Not published | Not published | Often about 1 hour after it's sent |
| Ethereum | No direct native withdrawal | — | — |
| Amazon gift card | From USD 5 | None per general help (one page shows 5%) | Not published |
| Steam gift card | Depends on region | Not published | Not published |
| Stake | After the first cashout | Not published | Not published |
Freecash payout methods after the USD 25 first cashout. Source: Freecash help center (checked in November). “Not published” means the information doesn't appear in the general help pages.
What this table shows: the “cash” methods charge a 5% fee, and PayPal adds USD 1 on small amounts. Gift cards look like the better deal, but the information is inconsistent from one help page to another. Check the net amount displayed before you confirm. The step-by-step process is on Freecash's PayPal withdrawal page.
| % | |
|---|---|
| USD 5 | 25% (USD 1.25) |
| USD 10 | 15% (USD 1.50) |
| USD 20 | 10% (USD 2) |
| USD 50 | 5% (USD 2.50) |
| USD 100 | 5% (USD 5) |
What this chart shows: on a USD 5 PayPal withdrawal, a quarter of the amount goes to fees. From USD 50 upward, the share drops back to 5%. If you use PayPal, bundling your earnings into larger withdrawals cuts the cost significantly.
Which countries can cash out to PayPal on Freecash?
The official list of PayPal countries, checked in November, includes France, Belgium, Canada, Madagascar and Nigeria, among others. Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire) is not on it. Keep in mind that this list only covers PayPal payouts. It is not the list of countries where you can sign up.
For Madagascar, there's an important caveat. Freecash accepting the country doesn't guarantee that your own PayPal account can receive money, because PayPal's own rules apply after that. Check them before you build up earnings expecting to use this method. Our verified list of paying online work sites in Madagascar covers other options, including mobile money.
Why do Freecash accounts get locked at the first cashout?
This is the most common complaint on Reddit: an account frozen at the first cashout or during identity verification. The first cashout requirements page says you need a verified email first. After that comes an identity check with a selfie and an ID document, handled by the provider Veriff.
The terms also limit you to one account per person and per household and set a minimum age of 16. They also ban VPNs, proxies and iCloud Private Relay, with a ban as the possible penalty. So two siblings who sign up from the same internet connection can both end up blocked, even in good faith.
- Good sign:Keep one account for your whole household, not just for yourself
- Good sign:Be 16 or older when you sign up
- Good sign:Use accurate account details and a verified email from day one
- Good sign:Have a valid, readable ID document ready before your first cashout
- Good sign:Keep screenshots of the offers you complete
- Warning sign:Turning on a VPN, proxy or iCloud Private Relay
- Warning sign:Creating a second account after a rejection or a lock
- Warning sign:Piling up reversed offers (chargeback rate above 10%)
- Warning sign:Creating or using multiple accounts in the same household
What this checklist shows: some lock situations can relate to written rules, not only to random decisions. The rules are strict, though, and some users say support is unhelpful. Identity verification is standard practice on platforms that pay out money. Our article on the KYC process and account verification explains why.
“Get paid to watch TikTok”: what have investigations found about Freecash?
In January, the security company Malwarebytes described ads promising up to USD 35 an hour to watch TikTok. These ads actually redirected people to Freecash and its game offers. In April, the French tech site iGeneration published a highly critical article about these ads and about the user profiling that comes with them.
Also in April, TechCrunch reported that TikTok had pulled some of these ads. Almedia blamed them on third-party affiliates, meaning partners paid to bring in new sign-ups. These are investigations and allegations, not a legal ruling.
What do Trustpilot and Reddit say about Freecash?
Freecash itself advertises a 4.6/5 rating on Trustpilot from more than 333,000 reviews. We have not checked that figure independently. A high rating does not show that the earnings are worth the time spent.
On Reddit (searches like “is freecash legit reddit”), the feedback is more mixed. Common complaints include:
- Accounts frozen at the first cashout or during KYC.
- Game rewards that never get credited.
- Support described as slow or unclear.
- A lot of hours needed to reach some game goals.
These posts aren't a measurement, but they all point back to the mechanisms described above.
Is it worth the hours? There's no universal answer. It depends on the offers available in your country, your device, and how reliable the offer tracking turns out to be. No one can guarantee you an hourly income.
Freecash vs Swagbucks vs Microtaches: which one should you pick?
These three platforms don't do the same thing. Freecash lists games with goals, app tests, surveys, offerwalls and cashback. Swagbucks publishes PayPal and gift-card rewards. Microtaches offers micro-tasks that you complete by following the instructions shown. The table below compares published facts only.
| Freecash | Swagbucks | Microtaches | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operator | Almedia GmbH (Berlin), since 2020 | Prodege, since 2008 | Microtaches.com, French-language platform |
| Main activity | Game goals, app tests, surveys, cashback | Rewards vary by catalogue and country | Micro-tasks reviewed before crediting |
| Earnings unit | About 1,000 coins = USD 1 (per sources) | 100 SB = USD 1 in rewards | 1 Ops = €0.0042 at withdrawal, €0.0082 in the store |
| Payout threshold | USD 25 for the first cashout | A few euros or dollars, depending on the catalog | 5,000 Ops per request; at least 15,000 Ops for a first bank transfer (10,000 Ops reserve) |
| Payment methods | PayPal, bank transfer, Venmo, Visa, crypto, gift cards | PayPal, gift cards | Bank transfer (IBAN); mobile money, PayPal, Skrill, Neteller available from 25,000 Ops |
| Published timeframes | PayPal and bank transfer: 3 to 5 days | PayPal: 2 to 5 business days | Up to 3 weeks after approval |
| Identity check | Selfie + ID at first cashout | Not detailed in our sources | From 1,000 Ops, up to 7 business days |
| Countries | PayPal: France, Belgium, Canada, Madagascar, Nigeria… (not Ivory Coast) | Rewards: 11 countries incl. US, France, Canada, India | Worldwide, all nationalities |
Comparison based on published facts (checked in November). Sources: Freecash and Swagbucks help centers, Microtaches rules.
What this table shows: based on their published timeframes, Freecash and Swagbucks show shorter payout delays, but country rules vary by reward or payout method. Swagbucks doesn't list Belgium, Madagascar, Ivory Coast or Nigeria among the countries eligible for rewards; our detailed Swagbucks review goes through the details. Microtaches is open everywhere and offers mobile money, but with higher thresholds and longer payout times.
| % | |
|---|---|
| Africa | ≈ 68% |
| Europe | ≈ 26% |
| Asia and Oceania | ≈ 4% |
| Americas | ≈ 2% |
What this chart shows: more than two-thirds of Microtaches workers live in Africa. That includes more than 14,000 in Madagascar, about a third of the community. France comes next (more than 10,000), followed by Ivory Coast and Cameroon. This fits with payout options such as MVola, Orange Money, Wave and MTN MoMo.
Microtaches' limitations, no sugarcoating
Signing up is free, but every account is reviewed by our team, so approval isn't instant. Each task lasts 60 minutes at most, and you can have up to 3 tasks in progress. A task that expires without an answer costs a 20 Ops penalty. Task availability varies by day, country and profile, so no income is guaranteed.
Identity verification becomes available once your balance reaches 1,000 Ops and takes up to 7 business days. The minimum is 5,000 Ops per request, and there is a non-withdrawable reserve of 10,000 Ops. Mobile money, PayPal, Skrill and Neteller are available from 25,000 Ops. Payouts arrive up to 3 weeks after your request is approved.
An internal cap of €2,500 per year applies; this is a Microtaches rule, not a law. Airtel Money, Moov Money, M-Pesa and Payoneer are not offered.
The store values Ops about 1.95 times better than a cash withdrawal: 5,000 Ops are worth €41 in gift cards versus €21 at withdrawal. Our guide to converting your Ops into euros and gift cards walks through the math.
Withdrawal methods on Microtaches
Your Ops can be withdrawn to a bank account, a mobile money account or an online wallet. Bank transfer is available from the usual minimum; MVola, Orange Money, Wave, MTN MoMo, PayPal, Skrill and Neteller are available from 25,000 Ops; Revolut and Crypto are coming soon.

Our verdict: who is Freecash worth it for?
A real, identifiable platform with published payout rules. However, your earnings stay uncertain until they're actually withdrawn. Treat it as a paid hobby, not a source of income.
- Identifiable company (Almedia GmbH, Berlin), active since 2020
- Many payout options: PayPal, bank transfer, crypto, gift cards
- Short stated timeframes: 3 to 5 days for PayPal, about an hour for crypto
- Identifiable operator and published payout rules
- USD 25 first cashout and a selfie-based ID check
- Earnings can be reversed up to 90 days after crediting
- 5% fee on cash withdrawals, up to 25% on a small PayPal cashout
- Strict rules: one account per household, no VPN, bans possible
- Misleading ads reported by the press (allegations blamed on affiliates)
Bottom line: our Freecash review is mixed but not alarmist. Freecash has published payout rules, but you need to follow its rules to the letter. You also have to accept that some of the earnings you see may never turn into money.

Freecash FAQ
- Is Freecash legit?
- Yes, partly. The site has been run since 2020 by Almedia GmbH, an identifiable company based in Berlin, and it publishes payout rules. However, earnings can be held or reversed up to 90 days after they're credited, and the anti-fraud rules are strict.
- Is Freecash a scam?
- No, not in the strict sense: the operator is identifiable and the withdrawal rules are published. The criticism centers on locked accounts, game rewards that aren't credited and misleading ads attributed to affiliates.
- What is the minimum withdrawal on Freecash?
- USD 25 for the first cashout, according to the official help center. This threshold may vary by region, and the amount shown under “Cashout” is what applies. After that, PayPal is available from USD 5 to 200 and Amazon gift cards from USD 5.
- How long does Freecash take to pay out?
- 3 to 5 days for PayPal and bank transfers, according to Freecash. Crypto often arrives about an hour after it's sent. Your first cashout can take longer because of the identity check.
- Does Freecash charge fees for PayPal?
- Yes. The fee is 5% of the amount, plus an extra USD 1 on withdrawals of USD 5, 10 and 20. So a USD 5 withdrawal costs USD 1.25, which is 25%. From USD 50 upward, the fee drops back to 5%.
- Why is my Freecash account locked after ID verification?
- It can happen when a rule is flagged or the identity check fails. Documented risk factors include multiple accounts in the same household, using a VPN or iCloud Private Relay, and a high chargeback rate. Contact support with your documents, and don't create a second account.
- Why didn't my completed game get credited on Freecash?
- Tracking problems or advertiser review can prevent a reward from being credited. Keep screenshots and contact the offerwall's support quickly.
- How much are 1,000 Freecash coins worth?
- About USD 1, according to the sources we consulted. That rate hasn't been reconfirmed on a current official page. Rely on the amount shown in the “Cashout” tab before you withdraw.
- Can I cash out to PayPal from Ivory Coast on Freecash?
- No, according to the official PayPal country list checked in November. France, Belgium, Canada, Madagascar and Nigeria are on it. That list only covers PayPal payouts, not sign-ups.
- Freecash or Swagbucks: which is better?
- It depends on what you want to do and where you live. Freecash is mainly built on game goals, while Swagbucks rewards vary by catalogue and are limited to the countries listed in its help center. If you live outside those countries or want mobile money, look at micro-task platforms that are open worldwide.
