TELUS Digital review: AI projects, tests and payment
This TELUS Digital review explains AI projects, qualification tests and payment questions. Check the official requirements before committing your time.

This TELUS Digital review focuses on remote AI Community work rather than ordinary customer-service vacancies. A useful decision separates the role itself, your local eligibility and the financial terms that actually apply. A French-language listing does not automatically make a project available to every French speaker worldwide.
This guide explains project types, entry assessments and the questions to settle before accepting work. The two official listings discussed below are concrete examples, not a permanent catalogue. For background on the occupation, read our guide to search engine evaluator jobs alongside this review.
- French listing
- €23/hour
- Payment based on completed tasks, not guaranteed hourly income.
- Consecutive residence required
- 5 years

- Canadian listing estimate
- USD 15/hour
- US dollars; this is not a French rate.
TELUS Digital review: which part of the business is this?
The official French listing describes TELUS Digital as a customer experience transformation partner with activities spanning Data & AI, digital solutions, customer experience management and Trust & Safety. This review covers a narrower area: its AI Community projects. Do not treat every vacancy on the wider careers site as the same kind of freelance opportunity.
The French posting explicitly discusses freelancing and a contractual relationship. That matters more than the loose use of the word “job” in online discussions. Before accepting, identify the legal entity named in your agreement, its address, the governing terms and your contact person.
A verifiable official listing is a useful starting point, not proof that an unrelated message is genuine. A message can copy a real description while replacing the reply address or document destination. Locate the vacancy through the official careers portal, then compare its title, country and requirements before submitting an application or sending sensitive information.
Do not choose a project solely on the basis of an aggregate rating or a monthly earnings promise. The more useful question is whether you meet the published requirements, enjoy precise work and can accept payment arrangements that need checking for each project. An identifiable business does not make every opportunity suitable for every applicant.
What AI and evaluation projects do the listings describe?
Search evaluation means judging how well a result answers a query. You are not simply being paid to prefer one website: you apply a set of criteria. Relevance concerns the connection with the query; quality concerns the usefulness and reliability of the content under the project’s instructions. The skill is separating a personal impression from a judgement you can justify.
The French Quality Assurance Rater description includes assessing search results and AI responses, researching facts, documenting difficult cases and providing written reasoning. It also mentions training and calibration sessions. Calibration means aligning different evaluators around the same rules, rather than choosing whichever response happens to be most popular or most appealing to an individual reviewer.
The Canadian Personalized Internet Assessor posting describes reviewing text, pages and images to assess the relevance and quality of search results. It says previous professional experience is not required to apply for that particular role. Do not transfer that statement to the French posting, which asks for demonstrated research capability and lists several forms of experience as desirable.
| Work described | Important requirement | |
|---|---|---|
| Quality Assurance Rater — France | Research, AI responses, written reasoning and calibration | Demonstrated research capability; French and English |
| Internet Assessor — Canada | Evaluating text, pages and images | French and English; open-book qualification exam |
| Other projects | Read the relevant official description | Do not generalise from these two examples |

Our guide to AI training work provides broader background on the terminology. Keep each offer in its own scope, however: labelling, evaluating and writing are not automatically interchangeable activities. Ask for an authorised example of the expected output and its acceptance criteria, without requesting or sharing confidential project material.
Who can apply from France or another French-speaking country?
The French posting requires residence in France for the last five consecutive years, excellent French and English communication and familiarity with the local cultural context. The Canadian posting similarly requires five consecutive years in Canada. These are requirements of those individual listings, checked in November, not a worldwide rule for every AI Community project.
If you live in Madagascar, Senegal, Cameroon or Côte d’Ivoire, a listing labelled “French (France)” therefore does not establish your eligibility. Look for a project that explicitly matches your actual residence. Without a confirmed local listing, treat it as a lead to monitor rather than buying training that claims to guarantee access. Language ability does not replace the geographical requirement.
To find the AI Community minimum age, check the application terms and agreement. Do not import another platform’s age rule. Likewise, a remote-work label does not by itself mean you can relocate or work from any country without discussing it with your project contact and checking the relevant conditions.
Equipment matters too. The French listing specifies daily access to reliable broadband, a smartphone and a personal computer. Before applying, consider screen comfort, workspace and connection costs. A phone on its own does not meet that description. Avoid borrowing money for equipment before you have an acceptance and written terms that make the commitment reasonable for your circumstances.
How do you apply without confusing an application with acceptance?
The sequence below is a cautious application method, not a universal TELUS Digital procedure. The order and required documents may differ by project. Your aim is to maintain a clear record of what was offered, accepted and requested. Submitting a form or creating an account does not mean you have secured work or agreed a payment schedule.
- 1Locate the official listing
Check the title, country, languages and reference. Keep a dated copy of the description.
- 2Match the criteria honestly
Review residence, equipment, skills and actual availability. Do not change your stated country to appear eligible.
- 3Use the stated application channel
Send requested information only after checking the recipient. Separate your project contact from unsolicited messages.
- 4Prepare for assessments
Read the supplied material and follow the assessment rules. Ask whether preparation stages are paid.
- 5Clarify the contract and payment
Confirm the rate, payable unit, documents, approval process and deadlines before starting work.
For your application, think of genuine examples of structured research: locating a primary source, explaining contradictory information or summarising a subject clearly. This is not an invitation to invent professional experience. A real personal activity may demonstrate a skill if described honestly. The French listing accepts research capability demonstrated through professional experience or a strong record of self-directed research and verification.
For France, the posting also says successful applicants will be asked for independent contractor registration and/or a certificate of vigilance. That is a requirement stated by TELUS Digital, not a complete account of French law. Ask exactly which document is needed and check your situation with the appropriate authority. Our tax information page is a starting point, not a substitute for advice specific to you.
TELUS Digital review: how should you prepare for entry tests?
The French listing announces project-specific training and qualification assessments before joining. The Canadian listing is more specific: a language assessment, an open-book qualification exam and identity verification. It says guidelines and learning materials are supplied and the exam must be completed within a defined time window. That does not establish a single exam format for all projects.
An open-book exam means specified material can be consulted under the applicable rules. It does not automatically authorise help from a friend, an AI tool or an answer-sharing group. Read the actual assessment instructions first. If permitted resources are unclear, ask your official contact rather than assuming outside assistance is acceptable just because written material is available.
Prepare by practising the method rather than trying to bypass the assessment: understand a request, locate evidence, identify ambiguity and justify a decision concisely. Set aside quiet time and check both the deadline and time zone. Buying supposedly official answers is neither reliable preparation nor a guarantee of passing, and may put your application at risk if it breaches the rules.
Ask for the exam duration, permitted attempts and pass criteria for your project. Whether assessments and training are paid also needs confirmation. Before committing several evenings, ask about the expected effort, dates and next steps. Failing one qualification does not establish that you cannot do any AI-related work; it concerns a particular selection process with its own requirements.

How much can you earn without confusing a rate with income?
The French Quality Assurance Rater listing advertises €23 per hour and says payment is based on completed tasks, checked in November. The Canadian listing estimates USD 15 per hour, also based on completed tasks. These are different roles and currencies, not the endpoints of a worldwide pay range. They should not be added together or directly compared without context.
An hourly reference does not tell you how much work will be available, how tasks are counted or which parts of your own time may be unpaid. Ask what the payable unit covers and how corrections are handled. Money ultimately received, after expenses and any applicable obligations, cannot be inferred by multiplying the advertised figure by every spare hour in your week.
Here is a budgeting example, not a TELUS forecast: if an activity pays €46 for two payable hours but also takes one unpaid preparation hour, the return across all your time is €15.33 per hour. With two additional hours, it is €11.50. This assumption says nothing about whether TELUS pays preparation time; it demonstrates why that question matters before you commit.
| €/hour | |
|---|---|
| 2 hours total | €23/hour |
| 3 hours total | €15.33/hour |
| 4 hours total | €11.50/hour |
Keep a private record separating application time, learning, production, corrections and administration. It is a decision tool, not an automatic challenge to the project’s terms. Set your own limit on unpaid effort too: if answers about compensation remain vague, you can stop applying before committing too much time. Do not build your budget around a monthly earnings promise.
TELUS Digital payment: which methods, thresholds and delays need checking?
Ask for the payment threshold, supported wallets and deadlines for your project. Do not assume PayPal, Hyperwallet or automatic monthly payments apply to every project. The relevant document is the one governing your own contractual relationship: request it before completing payable work rather than relying on a generic online answer.
Separate work approval, payment issuance and receipt in your own account. Those can be different events; ask for the timetable applicable to your agreement. Ask about the invoicing currency, required documents, any charges and the correct contact for payment queries. A euro-denominated advertised rate does not alone establish the net amount that will reach your account after all relevant arrangements.
| Get it in writing | Why it matters | |
|---|---|---|
| Payable unit | Task, time reference, acceptance criteria | Avoid treating every hour as billable |
| Payment | Method, currency, any threshold, timetable | Check that your account can receive it |
| Costs | Any charges and currency conversion | Understand the net amount without inventing a fee schedule |
| Disputes | Contact, evidence and procedure | Document disputed work or payment |
Questions to ask; this table does not describe confirmed TELUS Digital payment rules.
In a country where a financial service restricts business or international receipts, seeing its logo is not enough. Confirm the account’s capabilities directly with the provider for your actual residence. Do not open an account under a different identity or country to work around incompatibility; ask instead whether the project offers an officially supported method you can legitimately use.
Quality, personal data and suspicious recruitment: what should you watch?
Both listings describe quality checks during the engagement, and the French posting also mentions performance monitoring. Passing an initial assessment is therefore not the end of evaluation. Keep authorised access to the instructions, flag ambiguities and ask how feedback is delivered. Ask for the project’s performance thresholds rather than borrowing them from another assignment.
The Canadian listing includes identity verification. Both listings say AI tools may assist parts of recruitment, such as reviewing applications, while final hiring decisions remain human. They invite applicants to contact the company for information about data processing. That wording does not replace reading the privacy notice attached to the actual application form or verification service you are asked to use.
Before sending an identity document, establish who receives it, why it is required and which secure channel to use. Check the notice for retention periods, international transfers and deletion arrangements for your application, then ask your questions. Never provide a password, sign-in code or remote access to your device as a supposed way to activate an application.
- Good sign:The role, country and contact match the official portal.
- Good sign:The rate and payment arrangements are explained in writing.
- Good sign:The identity-check channel and its privacy notice are identified.
- Warning sign:You are asked to buy something or make a personal transfer to unlock an application.
- Warning sign:You are asked for a secret code, false residence or borrowed account.
Which alternatives should you compare with TELUS Digital?
Compare working models before comparing brand names. An assessed project application, a survey panel and short microtasks involve different commitments. Our microtask platform comparison helps structure the criteria. A list of services is not confirmation that each accepts applicants, offers work or supports a suitable payment method in your country.
For another AI-related route, our Appen review is a separate reading option with its own conditions to check. For a different activity, our guide to reputable paid surveys covers panel selection criteria. Check each service’s documentation for its rates, thresholds and accepted countries.
| What you are comparing | Main check | |
|---|---|---|
| TELUS Digital | An advertised project with qualification | Local eligibility and project-specific agreement |
| Microtaches | Short microtasks with displayed instructions | Variable availability; reserve before withdrawal |
| Appen: separate guide | Another route to assess independently | Check its documentation; do not transfer TELUS terms |
| Panels: separate guide | A different participation category | Read each panel’s own rules |
Route comparison: TELUS Digital based on the linked postings; Microtaches based on its rules; other routes link to separate guides.
Microtaches registration is free and restricted to adults under the legal age rules of their country of residence. Each account is reviewed and approved by the team, and a profile questionnaire must be completed. Microtaches is not an employer and provides neither an employment contract nor a salary. Task availability varies by day, country and profile; registration does not guarantee daily work.
An accepted task must be completed within 60 minutes, with at most three tasks in progress. Leaving an accepted task unanswered when time expires incurs a 20-Ops penalty. Some answers undergo manual checks before credit is added. This may suit occasional use, but it still requires reading the instructions and not accepting a task when you expect to be interrupted.
How do withdrawals work on the Microtaches alternative?
These arrangements apply only to Microtaches, never to TELUS Digital. Ops are worth €0.0042 for withdrawal and €0.0082 in the gift-card shop. Also check that your chosen provider serves your country and can receive the payment; bank transfer requires an account with an IBAN.
| Type | Availability | Where it is used | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bank transfer (IBAN) | Bank | Available from the usual minimum | Bank account with an IBAN, in Europe or elsewhere (fixed fee outside Europe) |
| MVola | Mobile money | Available from 25,000 Ops | Madagascar |
| Orange Money | Mobile money | Available from 25,000 Ops | Madagascar, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, DR Congo… |
| Wave | Mobile money | Available from 25,000 Ops | Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso… |
| MTN MoMo | Mobile money | Available from 25,000 Ops | Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Benin, Guinea, Congo, Ghana… |
| PayPal | Online wallet | Available from 25,000 Ops | Countries where PayPal lets you receive money |
| Skrill | Online wallet | Available from 25,000 Ops | International online wallet |
| Neteller | Online wallet | Available from 25,000 Ops | International online wallet |
| Revolut | Neobank | Coming soon (no date yet) | Coming soon |
| Crypto | Cryptocurrency | Coming soon (no date yet) | Coming soon |
Methods shown on the Withdrawals page of your Microtaches account. Countries listed are examples where the service is common.
The non-withdrawable 10,000-Ops reserve means a first minimum bank withdrawal requires a 15,000-Ops balance: 10,000 retained and 5,000 withdrawn. Those 5,000 Ops represent €21 before any applicable fees. This is a balance calculation, not an estimate of the time needed to reach it. Use the Ops calculator to distinguish shop value from withdrawal value.
| Ops | |
|---|---|
| Retained reserve | 10,000 Ops |
| Minimum withdrawal | 5,000 Ops |
Identity verification is mandatory before the first withdrawal or first shop order. It becomes available from a 1,000-Ops balance and is processed within seven business days at most. Shop orders are processed within two weeks at most. For withdrawal methods and charges, use the official section above and your Withdrawals page rather than confusing these arrangements with those of an external provider.
TELUS Digital review verdict: who is it worth considering for?
This route is most worth your attention if you enjoy close reading, checking facts and explaining decisions. It is less suited to someone who wants only an app to open for a few minutes without preparation. The decision depends on your tolerance for selection, administrative circumstances and the clarity of the financial terms you receive. The advertised rate is only one part of that decision.
The official postings describe concrete work and specific requirements. Applying may make sense if you match a project, but payment arrangements and available work need clarification before committing.
- Detailed task descriptions in the two examples
- Explicit language and residence requirements
- Advertised training or materials and quality reviews
- Terms are not uniform across projects and countries
- Payment methods and timetable to confirm for your project
- Selection and preparation time belong in your decision
To decide now, gather the official description, your unanswered questions and a limit on application time. If the project does not match your residence or payment remains unclear, set it aside instead of looking for a workaround. You can consider a better-matched listing later. Comparing several routes is safer than building a household budget around a single application that has not been accepted.
- Is TELUS Digital legitimate for online work?
- TELUS Digital publishes official listings describing search and AI-content evaluation projects. That provides a verifiable basis for considering an application, not a guarantee of income or proof that an unrelated offer is genuine. Locate the official listing, identify your contact and request the contractual terms. Check the country, rate and timetable in the written terms before starting.
- What does TELUS Digital pay in France?
- One French Quality Assurance Rater posting advertises €23 per hour and states that payment is based on completed tasks, checked in November. That figure belongs to that listing, not every French project. It does not establish available hours or guaranteed take-home income. Ask about the payable unit, approval rules and treatment of preparation time before using an advertised rate to plan a budget.
- Can French speakers apply from Africa?
- A French-language listing does not confirm eligibility from a French-speaking African country. The French example requires five consecutive years of residence in France; the Canadian example requires five years in Canada. Look for a project that explicitly accepts your actual residence and confirm its payment arrangements. Do not select a false country or use someone else’s account to apply, even if your language skills match the description.
- Do French-language projects require English?
- Both French-language listings discussed here ask for excellent communication in French and English. That requirement belongs to those projects; other listings need separate checking. Before applying, consider whether you can understand instructions and explain a judgement in the required language. If the expected level is unclear, ask the official contact rather than assuming French alone is enough because it appears in the job title.
- What is the TELUS Digital qualification test like?
- The Canadian listing describes a language assessment, an open-book exam, supplied learning materials and identity verification. The French listing describes project-specific training and assessments. Check the assessment format and pass criteria for your project. Check the deadline, permitted resources, any attempt limit and whether preparation stages are paid. An open-book assessment does not automatically permit outside assistance, answer-sharing groups or AI tools; follow the actual instructions.
- Does TELUS Digital pay through PayPal or Hyperwallet?
- Check the payment method provided for your project. Do not assume PayPal or Hyperwallet apply to every project. Request the terms for your own agreement, including method, currency, any charges, threshold and timetable. Also check whether the provider account can receive that type of payment in your country. Do not confuse these arrangements with the separate Microtaches withdrawal rules.
- Do you need professional experience to apply?
- The Canadian Personalized Internet Assessor listing says previous professional experience is not required to apply for that role. The French Quality Assurance Rater listing asks for demonstrated research capability and describes desirable experience. Those conditions are not interchangeable. Describe your real skills and check the level of the role. Being eligible to apply does not mean automatic acceptance, even where a particular professional qualification is not explicitly required.
- What equipment is needed for remote projects?
- The French listing requires daily access to reliable broadband, a smartphone and a personal computer. It is therefore not described as a phone-only opportunity. Check the exact technical requirements of your project and your connection costs before committing. Avoid buying equipment solely because you have submitted an application; wait until you have sufficiently clear written terms and a reasonable basis for deciding the expense is worthwhile.
- What is the minimum age for TELUS Digital?
- To find the minimum age, consult the project terms. Check the terms of the relevant application form and project agreement rather than borrowing another service’s rule. Microtaches, a separate option, is restricted to adults under the rules of their country of residence. That Microtaches requirement must not be presented as TELUS Digital’s age policy or used to infer eligibility there.
- Can Microtaches replace a TELUS Digital project?
- They are different models. The TELUS Digital examples describe assessed projects with terms specific to each listing. Microtaches offers short microtasks with displayed instructions, account approval and variable availability; it is not an employer. Its Ops, reserve and withdrawal rules do not apply to TELUS Digital. Compare the options according to your country, available time and needs without treating either as a guaranteed salary.
