trnd review: free products, selection and no cash payments
This trnd review explains product discovery after selection, not cash earnings. Understand sharing rules, possible returns and alternatives before applying.

This trnd review starts with the distinction that matters most: applying for a product, receiving it and earning income are different things. Free product testing can be enjoyable, but the useful question is not simply whether a parcel might arrive. It is whether the experience and its conditions fit what you actually want.
The focus here is the French service, with separate guidance for Belgium and readers elsewhere. General membership rules are not the same as individual campaign conditions. Our guide to becoming a product tester explains how product discovery, a benefit in kind and a paid service differ, before you commit time to any of them.

What is trnd, and which company operates it?
According to its general FAQ, trnd is a community for discovering products and services. Its model is collaborative marketing: a brand runs a campaign, selected members try a product and can tell people around them about their experience. Brands also receive feedback. It is neither an employment arrangement nor a shop giving an item to everyone who creates an account.
The French terms identify TERRITORY Influence GmbH in Munich, Germany. They explain that projects are generally carried out by the locally responsible group company. The privacy policy also names TRND France in Paris. This distinction matters because the platform operator and the organisation responsible for a particular campaign are not necessarily the same legal entity.
Word of mouth means consumers talking about products, not repeating a sales script without using them. You can enjoy discovering something while explaining a specific weakness. The programme serves a commercial purpose for brands, which should remain part of your decision about the time you spend and the possible use of your contributions.
Can you make money with trnd?
The official answer is no. The FAQ calls membership a voluntary, unpaid activity. A useful product may offer a personal benefit, but it is not money available in your bank account. Turning an assumed retail value into wages or an hourly rate would be misleading, particularly before you have actually received and used the item.
| Product received | Spendable money | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Product or samples depending on project | No cash payment under the trnd model |
| Use | Personal trial and campaign-specific sharing | No trnd cash withdrawal |
| Keeping it | Check terms: returns may be required | Not applicable |
| WOMbats | Community activity indicator | No monetary value |

For budgeting, separate a possible avoided expense from income. If the product replaces something you would genuinely have bought, it may reduce spending. If you would never have purchased it, its advertised price does not automatically become a saving. Either way, you cannot use that product to pay a bill. Our guide to paid product testing explores that distinction in more detail.
There is consequently no trnd cash threshold to reach, bank payment schedule to optimise or euro conversion strategy to follow. Any page promising WOMbat withdrawals should be checked against the official terms. If your goal is financial, start with an activity whose rules explicitly provide a withdrawable reward, then examine the conditions that must be met before it becomes accessible.
Who can join in France, Belgium or elsewhere?
The French terms reserve registration for people over 18. They require accurate information and a single personal account. If you are exactly 18, check the wording in the registration form and ask the service for confirmation rather than assuming that a differently phrased age rule applies. Do not create an account in someone else’s name to bypass an eligibility condition.
The French site’s country selector lists a French-language Belgian version, but the cited Belgian FAQ is not accessible. Confirm the current Belgian application route directly with the service. Campaigns, delivery addresses and selected groups should not be assumed to be identical. A project visible on one national version does not establish that your address is accepted. Always check the account country and project coverage before applying.
For Madagascar, Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon or any other country, an accessible website is not proof of worldwide availability. Reading a page establishes neither local membership eligibility nor delivery support. Ask whether your actual residence is accepted, without using a borrowed address or false location. If there is no clear answer, postpone applying rather than trying to work around the registration form.
How does a trnd campaign work, step by step?
The member FAQ describes a process based on profiles and application tickets. A ticket is an invitation to apply, not confirmation that you have been selected. The application includes questions about habits and motivation. The terms also distinguish the acknowledgement of an application from the additional email that actually confirms participation in a project.
- 1Create your profile
Provide accurate personal details and interests.
- 2Read the ticket and project brief
Check the product, country, schedule and project-specific terms.
- 3Apply
Answer the questionnaire honestly and wait for selection confirmation.
- 4Try it and share honestly
Follow applicable terms, disclose participation and check whether the product must be returned.
The welcome pack is not an automatic sign-up gift. The FAQ links it to a successful application for a project, so its contents depend on that campaign. Before arranging to receive a parcel, make sure you have the appropriate confirmation and reread the project page rather than relying on an older description you may have seen elsewhere.
Keep the terms you accept and important messages in a personal folder. This makes it easier to find a date, return instruction or contact without repeatedly searching through messages. It does not make selection more likely. It simply reduces misunderstandings between what you thought you were agreeing to and what the project actually provides for.
How can you approach selection without wasting time?
Criteria are agreed with the brand and vary by project. The terms provide for a limited number of participants and no entitlement to join a particular campaign. Not receiving a ticket or not being selected is therefore not proof of a broken account. Nor does it provide enough information to calculate your chances of acceptance on the next application.
The trndomètres are profile questionnaires used to understand your interests, and the FAQ says they can be updated. Answer according to your actual habits. Inventing a need or claiming to use something just to match a product is more likely to make the eventual trial irrelevant. A consistent profile helps match opportunities; it does not guarantee a number of parcels.
Set a personal time limit for reading projects and completing applications. If you spend every break watching an uncertain selection process, consider whether the experience is still enjoyable. The FAQ explicitly allows you to ignore a ticket that does not interest you. For financial needs, also compare supplementary income ideas whose compensation is clearly explained rather than assuming any testing opportunity is paid.
Are WOMbats worth anything in euros?
The terms are explicit: WOMbats have no monetary value, cannot be paid out in cash and are not transferable. They indicate community activity and may be one selection factor. A rising counter therefore does not mean you are building a cash balance. It would be incorrect to invent an exchange rate between WOMbats and money in a bank account.
| Monetary value | €0 |
|---|---|
| Cash payout | €0 |
The FAQ describes community standing as one criterion among others, and the terms leave WOMbat allocation to trnd’s discretion. There is no verified public threshold that automatically entitles you to the next project. Avoid turning an activity indicator into a productivity contest: its relevance depends first on whether you actually enjoy taking part in the community.
The referral feature described in the FAQ belongs to the same community model. It should not be presented as a cash commission. If you invite someone, do so because the concept might suit them, not because you can promise payment or selection. The same caution applies to any points dashboard: begin by checking what those points actually entitle you to receive.

Do you have to post reviews or share on social media?
The general FAQ stresses voluntary participation and says you choose what to do and how often. The general terms also state that participants are not required to use or evaluate a test product. It would therefore be inaccurate to claim that every member faces a universal posting quota. However, you still need to read any additional conditions attached to an individual project before accepting it.
If you recommend a product or share information about it, the terms require you to disclose participation in the trnd project. They require frank opinions and explicitly allow criticism. Receiving an item should not buy a positive verdict. Describe your real use, distinguish a personal impression from a demonstrated fact and avoid promising an outcome that you have not experienced yourself.
The FAQ prohibits creating participation photos or videos entirely with artificial intelligence, using images found online or copying other members’ content. It allows limited minor edits that do not change authenticity. The editorial illustration in this guide is not evidence of a product test: your own campaign contributions must reflect an experience you actually had and content you created yourself.
Can you keep or resell products you receive?
The FAQ says products can most often be kept. The terms add an important qualification: some projects require their return, and that obligation must be disclosed when you apply. If an item is supplied temporarily, do not assume ownership automatically transfers to you when the test ends. Check the terms of the specific project before deciding what to do with it.
The terms say trnd covers return costs unless the project agreement expressly provides otherwise. That does not establish identical return logistics for every campaign. Verify the recipient, deadline, any shipping label and the required proof of posting with the named contact. Keeping the relevant messages becomes especially useful if a product does need to be sent back after testing.
The terms prohibit selling test products, including through resale marketplaces. Do not build an income plan around reselling trnd parcels. Where you may keep an item, the benefit is its permitted personal use, not a commercial margin. This restriction alone rules out earnings claims based on a hypothetical resale price, regardless of how attractive the product might appear.
What personal data and content rights should you consider?
The privacy policy explains that the platform and companies responsible for projects process data for membership and participation. It describes data sharing between those entities. The FAQ’s reassuring confidentiality summary is not a substitute for that detailed policy: understand who receives information and for what purpose before filling in your profile or accepting a campaign.
The terms distinguish content intended for internal use from public content, with corresponding usage rights. They provide for non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free rights, whose scope deserves attention, particularly for photographs and videos. Do not assume that submitted material can only be seen in the first place where you uploaded it. Read the relevant clause before deciding what you are comfortable providing.
As a practical privacy precaution, keep documents, addresses, other people’s faces and identifying features of your home out of the background. Obtain permission before including someone else. These are privacy safeguards, not techniques for improving your community standing. You can also decide not to join a campaign when the expected content goes beyond the personal boundaries you want to maintain.
- Good sign:Your real country and address meet project requirements
- Good sign:You understand return and sharing conditions
- Good sign:You have read photo usage rights
- Warning sign:A promise to convert WOMbats into cash
- Warning sign:A request to create multiple accounts
Trnd review: which limitations could disappoint you?
One possible disappointment is expecting income from an activity that is officially unpaid. Another is treating registration as a guarantee of receiving products. A third concerns whether an item can be kept, which depends on campaign terms. These are documented limitations of the model, not allegations against the service or an invented summary of customer testimonials gathered elsewhere.
Do not measure satisfaction from individual testimonials alone. An isolated story would not establish your selection chances anyway. When reading testimonials, look for the country, project, date and distinction between an invitation and confirmed selection. Avoid comparing two accounts without checking that they concern the same kind of participation and comparable project conditions.
If a problem arises, send the project contact a specific question about application status, announced delivery or the return procedure. Do not send sensitive documents to someone merely because they contact you on social media. If an unexpected payment request appears, return to the official principle of free participation and seek confirmation through the project’s own communication channel before doing anything.
Which trnd alternatives suit products or financial rewards?
Two questions should guide the comparison: do you want to discover a product or obtain a financial reward, and which conditions are you willing to accept? These services do not all meet the same need. Our micro-task platform comparison helps compare access and withdrawal rules without confusing a product received with money paid into an account.
Sampleo’s official “How it works” page describes registration, a profile, applying and, after selection, discovering a product and completing ambassador activities. The Insiders’ equivalent page describes profiles, applications, receiving a pack and sharing opinions. These introductions do not establish cash thresholds or identical conditions across all their campaigns. Check each offer separately rather than extending a general description into a financial promise.
| Model | What to check | |
|---|---|---|
| trnd | Product discovery, unpaid | Selection, sharing and possible returns |
| Sampleo | Applications and ambassador activities after selection | Individual campaign terms |
| The Insiders | Applications, a pack and opinion sharing | Individual campaign terms |
| Microtaches | Short micro-tasks rewarded in Ops | Approval, identity, reserve and withdrawal |
Sources: trnd FAQ; Sampleo, How it works; The Insiders, How it works; Microtaches rules. Checked in November.
Microtaches offers short micro-tasks with instructions displayed in each task. Registration is free and restricted to adults under the legal age of majority in their country of residence. The team reviews and approves each account, and the profile questionnaire must be completed. Task availability varies by day, country and profile. It is not guaranteed income or an automatic replacement for a product discovery community.
An accepted task must be completed within 60 minutes, with no more than three tasks at once. Leaving an accepted task unanswered when its time expires incurs a 20-Ops penalty, and some answers are manually checked before crediting. Read instructions before accepting rather than treating acceptance as an automatic reward. For another model, also distinguish paid surveys from product campaigns and their different participation rules.
How do Microtaches Ops withdrawals work?
Unlike WOMbats, Ops have defined values: one Op is worth €0.0042 for withdrawals and €0.0082 in the gift-card shop. The following table describes Microtaches, not trnd. Also verify that the payment provider supports receiving money in your country: a listed method does not guarantee local eligibility.
| Type | Availability | Where it is used | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bank transfer (IBAN) | Bank | Available from the usual minimum | Bank account with an IBAN, in Europe or elsewhere (fixed fee outside Europe) |
| MVola | Mobile money | Available from 25,000 Ops | Madagascar |
| Orange Money | Mobile money | Available from 25,000 Ops | Madagascar, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Cameroon, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea, DR Congo… |
| Wave | Mobile money | Available from 25,000 Ops | Senegal, Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso… |
| MTN MoMo | Mobile money | Available from 25,000 Ops | Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Benin, Guinea, Congo, Ghana… |
| PayPal | Online wallet | Available from 25,000 Ops | Countries where PayPal lets you receive money |
| Skrill | Online wallet | Available from 25,000 Ops | International online wallet |
| Neteller | Online wallet | Available from 25,000 Ops | International online wallet |
| Revolut | Neobank | Coming soon (no date yet) | Coming soon |
| Crypto | Cryptocurrency | Coming soon (no date yet) | Coming soon |
Methods shown on the Withdrawals page of your Microtaches account. Countries listed are examples where the service is common.
The non-withdrawable reserve explains why the minimum withdrawal alone does not describe the first payment: a first minimum bank withdrawal requires a balance of 15,000 Ops, with 10,000 remaining as reserve. The bank account must have an IBAN. If your bank does not issue one, do not assume this transfer will work; check with the bank before building a balance for that purpose.
| Retained reserve | 10,000 Ops |
|---|---|
| Minimum withdrawal | 5,000 Ops |
Identity verification is also mandatory before the first shop order, and shop orders are processed within two weeks at most. Compare more than unit values: consider what you want to receive, the conditions and the timelines. The Ops calculator can help with those conversions without assigning WOMbats a financial value they do not have under the trnd terms.
Our final trnd review: who is it actually for?
trnd is best suited to someone curious about relevant products who accepts selection and understands the commercial purpose of the programme. It is less suitable if you need a specific amount of money by a deadline, dislike sharing content or are uncomfortable with return conditions. You can like the concept without needing to apply for every campaign or maximise a community counter.
A coherent option for trying products after selection, provided you do not confuse a benefit in kind with spendable money.
- Free registration and participation
- Projects chosen around your interests
- Honest criticism explicitly allowed
- No cash remuneration
- No guarantee of selection
- Some returns required and content rights to review
The best decision may be to accept nothing yet. Read a campaign that genuinely interests you, clarify any uncertain conditions and only then decide. Apply the same discipline to thresholds, identity checks and withdrawals when considering a paid activity. Understanding a platform properly is more useful than a quick sign-up based on an imagined parcel or an assumed payment.
- Is trnd free?
- Yes. The general FAQ and terms describe registration and project participation as free. That does not guarantee a product for every member, because selection is still required. If an unexpected payment request appears, verify the project conditions and official contact directly. Free access also does not mean an application takes no time, so decide whether the experience is worth your personal attention.
- Does trnd offer cash withdrawals?
- No. The FAQ describes voluntary, unpaid participation, and WOMbats cannot be converted into cash. There is therefore no cash-out threshold to reach under this model. Receiving a product is not a financial payment. If your goal is spendable money, choose an activity whose terms explicitly provide compensation and check how that reward becomes withdrawable before treating it as part of your budget.
- How much is one WOMbat worth in euros?
- WOMbats have no monetary value under the terms. They cannot be paid out in cash or transferred. They indicate community activity and may be a selection factor, without guaranteeing another project. Applying a euro exchange rate would therefore be incorrect. They should not be compared directly with Microtaches Ops, which have separately defined withdrawal and shop values and their own access conditions.
- Does an application ticket guarantee a product?
- No. An application ticket lets you apply when a project matches the profile sought. You then complete the questionnaire, and selection follows the campaign criteria. The terms distinguish acknowledging an application from confirming participation. Wait for that confirmation and reread the project information before assuming a pack has been allocated to you. A registration account, ticket and accepted application are different stages.
- Can you keep every trnd product?
- Not necessarily. The FAQ says products can most often be kept, but the terms provide for campaigns requiring returns. That obligation must be disclosed when you apply. Check the specific project rather than relying on an assumed universal rule. Where a return is required, the general terms say trnd covers the cost unless the project agreement expressly sets out a different arrangement.
- Can you resell products received through trnd?
- No. The terms prohibit selling test products, including through resale marketplaces. Being allowed to keep a product should not be interpreted as permission to sell it. Do not calculate income from its assumed second-hand price. The programme’s benefit remains discovery and permitted use, not building inventory for resale. If ownership or return conditions are unclear, ask the project contact before taking any action.
- Do you have to give a positive review?
- No. The terms require frank opinions and explicitly allow criticism. If you recommend a product or share information about it, you must disclose participation in the trnd project. Read the campaign-specific terms as well. Do not invent an experience or reuse another member’s material: a contribution should reflect your own actual use. Receiving a product is not a reason to hide a drawback you genuinely experienced.
- Is trnd available in Belgium and Africa?
- A French-language Belgian version exists, but that does not establish that a French campaign accepts Belgian addresses. For African countries, confirm eligibility and shipping availability with the service. Verify the account country, project terms and your real address with support. Access to a public webpage is not confirmation that you can register locally or receive a product where you live. Do not use a false location.
- Can you delete your trnd account?
- The member FAQ describes leaving through the profile area in “Mon trnd”, with immediate effect on membership and loss of WOMbats. Ending membership and handling personal data are separate questions: read the privacy policy for the relevant rights and processing information. If you are still in a campaign involving a product return, clarify that obligation with the campaign contact rather than assuming closing the account resolves it.
- Is Microtaches the same kind of alternative as trnd?
- No. trnd offers unpaid product discovery, whereas Microtaches offers short micro-tasks rewarded in Ops. Task availability varies, and withdrawals depend on identity checks, thresholds and the reserve. The two approaches serve different goals. Compare the rules before choosing: neither trnd selection nor a regular Microtaches task volume is guaranteed. A useful product and a reward that can become withdrawable should remain separate categories in your planning.
