MVola withdrawal: get your online earnings and pay lower fees
An MVola withdrawal happens in two stages: first you receive your online earnings in your MVola account, then you cash out the ariary at a Cash Point. This guide covers the Microtaches requirements, the maximum timelines, MVola's full fee schedule and the mistakes that hold up a payment.

- MVola available from
- 25,000 Ops
- Microtaches rule for mobile money
- Identity check
- 7 days
- Up to 7 business days, before your first withdrawal
- Maximum payout time
- 3 weeks
- After your withdrawal request is approved
- Cash Point fee
- 0.9%
- For a 500,000 Ar or 1,000,000 Ar withdrawal
Looking for how an MVola withdrawal works for money you've earned online? You're in good company. Madagascar has more than 14,000 approved workers on Microtaches, roughly a third of the whole community. MVola is a mobile wallet launched in 2010.
This tutorial follows your earnings all the way, from your Ops balance to cash in your hand. If you're new to the topic, start with our guide to online work paid via MVola. It explains how this kind of work operates in Madagascar.
What does an MVola withdrawal actually mean?
People use the word "withdrawal" for two different things, and mixing them up causes a lot of confusion. The first withdrawal happens on Microtaches: you ask for your earnings to be sent to your MVola account. The second withdrawal happens at MVola: you turn electronic money into cash with an agent (a Cash Point).
Each stage has its own rules. On the Microtaches side, there are thresholds, an identity check and a payout timeline. On the MVola side, there's a fee schedule and limits published by the operator. Microtaches doesn't set Cash Point fees. MVola does.
Good to know: you don't have to cash out. Once the money is in MVola, you can keep it in your account and use it for the services the operator offers. A Cash Point withdrawal is only useful if you actually need cash.
What do you need before requesting a withdrawal to MVola?
On Microtaches, your earnings build up in Ops, the platform's internal unit. Several rules apply before you can request a payout to MVola. Here they are:
- Approved sign-up: signing up is free, but the team reviews it, so approval isn't instant. A completed profile earns a 10 Ops bonus.
- Approved tasks: each task is checked before the Ops are credited to your balance.
- Identity verification (KYC): available once your balance reaches 1,000 Ops. It is processed within up to 7 business days and is required before your first withdrawal.
- Mobile money threshold: MVola is available from 25,000 Ops.
- Minimum per request: 5,000 Ops.
- Reserve: 10,000 Ops always stay in your balance and can't be withdrawn.
- Annual cap: €2,500 per year. This is an internal Microtaches rule, not a law.
Identity verification requires an ID document and proof of address. One point matters most: the verified name must match the name on the MVola account that receives the money. Everything is covered in our article on the KYC process and account verification.
How much are your Ops worth in euros and ariary?
When you withdraw, 1 Ops is worth €0.0042. In the shop (gift cards, products), it's worth €0.0082, which is about 1.95 times more. Here are a few exact reference points. They use a rate of roughly 5,000 ariary per euro, an order of magnitude only, since the rate changes daily:
- 5,000 Ops = €21 when withdrawn, about 105,000 Ar
- 10,000 Ops = €42 when withdrawn, about 210,000 Ar
- 15,000 Ops = €63 when withdrawn, about 315,000 Ar
- 50,000 Ops = €210 when withdrawn, about 1,050,000 Ar
The reference rate is published by Banky Foiben'i Madagasikara, the central bank. It was around 5,018 Ar per euro in early November. To weigh a withdrawal against a shop order, see our guide to converting your Ops into euros and gift cards. For local currency conversions, read our guide to online work paid in ariary.
Illustrative example: Aina, a student in Fianarantsoa, gets her sign-up approved and completes her profile. As soon as her balance reaches 1,000 Ops, she starts her identity check right away. That way, the 7 business days maximum run in the background while she keeps working on tasks. Her KYC doesn't delay her first withdrawal.
How do you receive online earnings on MVola, step by step?
Here's the full journey, from sign-up to cash. The badges show the published maximum timelines, so you know what to expect at each stage.

Sign-up is free and reviewed by the team. Complete your profile (10 Ops bonus). Make sure your name is spelled exactly as it is on your ID.
- 2Complete tasks60 minutes max per task
Accept a task, follow the instructions shown and submit your answer within 60 minutes. You can have up to three tasks in progress. Ops are credited once your work is approved.
- 3Get your identity verifiedUp to 7 business days
Once your balance reaches 1,000 Ops, submit your ID and proof of address. The verified name must match the MVola account holder.
- 4Reach the mobile money threshold25,000 Ops
MVola is available from 25,000 Ops. Keep in mind the 5,000 Ops minimum per request and the 10,000 Ops reserve that stays in your balance.
- 5Request your withdrawalAfter KYC approval
From the Withdrawals page in your account, request your withdrawal and follow the instructions shown. Check your information before you confirm.
- 6Receive the paymentUp to 3 weeks
The money arrives in your MVola account once it's processed. The maximum timeline starts when your request is approved.
- 7Cash out (optional)MVola schedule

What this journey shows: the two longest stages are identity verification and the payout itself. Starting your KYC early is the most useful thing you can do to avoid waiting.
How long does an MVola withdrawal take to arrive?
Microtaches publishes maximum timelines, not averages. The table below brings them together, along with what you can do to avoid losing time.
| Maximum time | Handled by | What you can do | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sign-up approval | Not instant | Microtaches team | Fill in an accurate, complete profile |
| Task approval | Checked before crediting | Microtaches team | Follow the instructions shown to the letter |
| Identity verification (KYC) | Up to 7 business days | Microtaches team | Start it as soon as you reach 1,000 Ops |
| Payout to MVola | Up to 3 weeks | Microtaches, after the request is approved | Double-check your number before confirming |
| Shop order | Up to 2 weeks | Microtaches | Alternative to withdrawing, about 1.95 times more value |
| Cash withdrawal | Check with the MVola agent | MVola agent (Cash Point) | Follow MVola's official Cash Point procedure |
Maximum timelines published by Microtaches.
What this table shows: for a first withdrawal, allow up to 7 business days for KYC. Then allow up to 3 weeks for the payout after your request is approved. For later withdrawals, use the payout timeline published by Microtaches. Don't worry if nothing shows up after a few days.
MVola vs Orange Money vs Airtel Money: which should you use to get paid?
All three wallets use the same cash-out fee schedule up to 1,000,000 Ar. For you, the real difference lies elsewhere: whether Microtaches can send your earnings there.
| MVola | Orange Money | Airtel Money | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Offered by Microtaches | Yes, available from 25,000 Ops | Yes, available from 25,000 Ops | No |
| Opening an account | Adult living in Madagascar, Yas line (formerly Telma), one account per SIM | Adult; remote opening possible since January 2024 with a Malagasy number from any carrier | Airtel subscribers only (code *436#) |

What this table shows: Microtaches offers both MVola and Orange Money, and their fees are identical. Pick the one you already use, as long as it's in your name. If you're undecided, our guide to receiving online earnings with Orange Money Madagascar covers the other option in detail.
Microtaches doesn't offer Airtel Money, and there's no point looking for a workaround. PayPal is among Microtaches' payout methods, but PayPal's help center says Malagasy accounts can only send money. So it isn't a way to receive funds in Madagascar.

What are MVola withdrawal fees at a Cash Point?
Here is the complete MVola withdrawal fee schedule, as published by the operator for individual customers. The last column shows the percentage you pay if you withdraw the top amount of each bracket.
| Withdrawal fee | Fee as % (top of bracket) | |
|---|---|---|
| 100 to 1,000 Ar | 100 Ar | 10% |
| 1,001 to 5,000 Ar | 150 Ar | 3% |
| 5,001 to 10,000 Ar | 275 Ar | 2.75% |
| 10,001 to 20,000 Ar | 550 Ar | 2.75% |
| 20,001 to 25,000 Ar | 650 Ar | 2.6% |
| 25,001 to 50,000 Ar | 1,300 Ar | 2.6% |
| 50,001 to 100,000 Ar | 1,900 Ar | 1.9% |
| 100,001 to 250,000 Ar | 3,400 Ar | 1.4% |
| 250,001 to 500,000 Ar | 4,700 Ar | 0.9% |
| 500,001 to 1,000,000 Ar | 8,800 Ar | 0.9% |
Source: official MVola fee schedule (mvola.mg/tarifs), checked in November. Percentages: Microtaches calculation at the top of each bracket, rounded.
Three things to remember about these MVola withdrawal fees. First, they are deducted directly from your account, so you pay the agent nothing extra. Second, depositing money into MVola is free. Third, Orange Money and Airtel Money use exactly the same schedule up to 1,000,000 Ar.
Fee schedules can change at any time. Before a large withdrawal, check the official MVola rates page. The MVola deposit and withdrawal page explains how the process works with agents. For current Cash Point fees, refer to the official schedule.
Should you withdraw your MVola money all at once or in smaller amounts?
When you compare the top of the larger brackets, larger cash-outs are often proportionally cheaper. Check the official bracket before choosing an amount. The next chart makes this clear.
| % | |
|---|---|
| 100,000 Ar | 1.9% |
| 250,000 Ar | 1.4% |
| 500,000 Ar | 0.9% |
| 1,000,000 Ar | 0.9% |
What this chart shows: withdrawing 100,000 Ar costs 1.9% of the amount, compared with about 0.9% for 500,000 Ar or 1,000,000 Ar. Your fee share drops by roughly half when you switch from small withdrawals to one combined withdrawal.
Now take the same total, 1,000,000 Ar, withdrawn in four different ways. The amounts below are exact calculations based on the official schedule.
| Ar | |
|---|---|
| 10 × 100,000 Ar | 19,000 Ar |
| 4 × 250,000 Ar | 13,600 Ar |
| 2 × 500,000 Ar | 9,400 Ar |
| 1 × 1,000,000 Ar | 8,800 Ar |
What this chart shows: withdrawing 1,000,000 Ar in ten goes costs 19,000 Ar in fees, compared with 8,800 Ar in a single withdrawal. You keep the 10,200 Ar difference in your account just by grouping your withdrawals.
Illustrative example: Rado, in Antsirabe, needs 500,000 Ar in cash to pay his rent. If he withdraws it all at once, he pays 4,700 Ar. If he withdraws 100,000 Ar five times over the month, he pays 9,500 Ar. Planning your cash needs saves you money directly.
What MVola and Microtaches limits should you know about?
For individuals, MVola publishes a maximum balance of 20,000,000 Ar and a maximum transfer of 20,000,000 Ar. Its daily limit is 20,000,000 Ar and its monthly limit is 620,000,000 Ar. Orange Money also displays a 20,000,000 Ar limit.
Microtaches has its own internal cap of €2,500 per year. This is a platform rule, not a legal requirement. At roughly 5,000 Ar per euro, that's around 12,500,000 Ar a year, well below MVola's limits. The reasons for this cap are explained in our article on the €2,500 annual cap on Microtaches.
What mistakes most often block an MVola withdrawal?
Some withdrawal delays can have a simple, avoidable cause. Here are situations to know about before your first request.
A different name on your KYC and your MVola account
The name verified during KYC must match the MVola account holder. An account in the name of a parent, spouse or friend won't work. Illustrative example: Hery, in Toamasina, was using his mother's MVola line. Before requesting a withdrawal, he needs to open his own account with his national ID card (CIN).
A mistyped phone number
One swapped digit is enough for the payment to fail or go to another line. Check your number digit by digit on the Withdrawals page in your account before you confirm.
A SIM card not registered in your name
According to MVola's terms and conditions, an account is opened with a CIN, a passport or another accepted document, and each SIM can have only one account. An MVola account whose holder name differs from your KYC will not match the receiving-account requirement.
Requesting a withdrawal before your KYC is approved
KYC is mandatory before your first withdrawal. Until it's approved, no request can go through. Wait for confirmation, which can take up to 7 business days, before requesting your payout.
One last mistake affects your balance rather than your withdrawal: letting a task expire. If you don't answer within 60 minutes, you lose 20 Ops. In September, Jirama, the national utility, reported rolling power cuts of up to 2 hours per neighborhood in Antananarivo. Charge your phone before you start. If needed, drop the task within the first 10 minutes, which carries no penalty. Our guide to manual review of micro-tasks also helps you get your answers approved the first time.
What should you do if the money hasn't reached your MVola account?
Before you worry, check where you stand against the maximum timelines. Then follow these steps in order:
- Count the days: the payout can take up to 3 weeks after your request is approved, not after you sent it.
- Check your MVola history to confirm no credit has arrived.
- Check the number in your request on the Withdrawals page in your account.
- Contact the Microtaches team if the 3-week window has passed, and give the date of your request.
- Call MVola customer service at 807 (or 034 00 00 807) if the problem is with your MVola account, such as a blocked account.
Never share your MVola PIN, not with an agent and not with anyone claiming to be a Microtaches advisor. No legitimate service needs it to send you money.
What should you check before confirming your MVola withdrawal?
Take two minutes to go through this list. Green items are things to confirm. Red items are warning signs that should make you stop.
- Good sign:Your identity verification (KYC) is approved
- Good sign:The MVola account is in your name, the same name as on your KYC
- Good sign:You've checked the number you entered digit by digit
- Good sign:The receiving MVola account is in your name
- Good sign:Your balance meets the mobile money threshold, the minimum per request and the 10,000 Ops reserve
- Warning sign:Someone asks for your MVola PIN to "unlock" a payment
- Warning sign:You're asked to pay fees upfront to receive your earnings
- Warning sign:Someone offers to have your money sent to a third party's MVola account
What this checklist shows: a legitimate withdrawal never requires you to share your PIN, pay upfront or use a borrowed account. These three requests match classic scam patterns, and you should recognize them wherever they appear.
