Testapic review: pay, tests and the move to UserTesting

A useful Testapic review needs to separate an invitation, a completed study and money actually received. Trying a website and explaining what feels confusing sounds straightforward. Yet an old review may describe a different application route or payment system from the one offered today. Those differences matter whether you live in France or another French-speaking country and want a modest addition to your income.

This guide separates published rules from account-specific questions and clearly labelled calculations. It is not a first-person cash-out report and does not offer a representative monthly earnings estimate. It covers study formats, how to count your actual time, practical privacy precautions and a comparison with UserTesting, Userlytics and Microtaches. These services should not be treated as interchangeable ways to earn, and none of the examples promises that studies will be available.

Testapic review: is it still the same service?

The Testapic domain redirects to UserTesting’s French website. An official acquisition announcement confirms the relationship. The older participant landing page now describes UserTesting formats and refers to that service in its explanations. The practical issue is therefore not finding two supposedly separate registrations. It is understanding which service your application link actually leads to, and which rules govern the account you use.

The group’s privacy policy lists Panisero SAS and User Testing, Inc. among its companies. A publicly identified legal organisation does not guarantee acceptance, a particular number of studies or approval of every submission. It helps you identify who is involved and where to read the applicable information. An identifiable provider and a worthwhile use of your own time are separate questions, so assess both rather than treating one as proof of the other.

If you have an older Testapic account, ask support how to access its history and any outstanding balance. A domain redirect does not prove that every historical account has closed or that every balance transferred automatically. Do not create multiple accounts to solve an access problem. Keep private records of previous activity and ask which process applies to your circumstances before repeating an application or assuming that a new dashboard includes everything from the old one.

Who can join from France, Belgium or Madagascar?

A French-language page is not a list of eligible countries. The public introduction pages cited here do not establish blanket eligibility from France, Belgium or Madagascar, or a precise minimum age for this application route. Check the participant conditions and accepted country of residence when applying. If your country is not offered, ask the service for confirmation rather than choosing a false address. Language availability alone does not establish that a local payment route will work either.

The UserTesting participant FAQ describes an application involving demographic information and a practice test. Demographic information describes your circumstances and background, as requested in the form. It helps match studies to relevant people; it is not an invitation to build whichever profile seems most profitable. Answer for yourself using accurate information. If a question does not describe your situation well, seek clarification rather than choosing an answer merely because it might unlock an opportunity.

Before spending time on a practice test, check your device, access to a quiet space and ability to receive PayPal payments. Acceptance is not a promise of daily assignments. Our guide to becoming a paid website tester explains the wider decision. Profile fit, useful feedback and actual time commitment are separate factors. A service can be legitimate and still be a poor match for your equipment, schedule or payment circumstances.

What kinds of website and app tests are offered?

The official participant landing page distinguishes surveys, unmoderated recorded tests and Live Conversations. Unmoderated means that nobody is guiding you through the session in real time: you follow the instructions yourself. A recorded test captures your screen and voice, and sometimes video. A Live Conversation is a scheduled video discussion with a UserTesting customer. These formats make different demands on your concentration, privacy and availability, even when they appear in the same opportunity feed.

The table below does not assign a fixed rate to each format because the published rule is a reward disclosed for each test. A detailed but unconfirmed rate card would be less useful than an honest distinction between public information and account-specific terms. Before starting, consider the amount, format, required device and participation conditions together. A larger advertised reward is not necessarily the better choice if it needs an appointment you cannot keep or recording you do not want to share.

Your role is not to flatter the interface. Explain what you are trying to find, what you understand and exactly where you hesitate. Saying that a label seems ambiguous is more useful than simply declaring that everything is good. Still follow the scenario rather than adding unrelated actions. Our guide to earning extra money through mobile app testing helps distinguish this kind of observation from ordinary recreational use. The useful output is a clear account of your experience.

How much does Testapic pay, and do old rates still apply?

The cautious answer is no: a figure in an older review is not a current rate. UserTesting’s earnings information page explains that rewards vary with study type, duration and customer demand. Your dashboard shows the amount for each opportunity. These pages do not establish a universal points-to-euros conversion for this route. Do not import another service’s currency rules, or assume that an old euro figure survives simply because the Testapic name still appears in a link.

Ask support to confirm any historical cash-out threshold, fees and currency attached to an older account. For the current route presented, the FAQ describes payments for completed tests; it does not establish a cumulative Testapic threshold to reproduce as a general rule. There is a meaningful difference between saying that no threshold has been confirmed and stating that no threshold exists. The latter would go beyond the information available, particularly for legacy balances or a different account arrangement.

Do not build your budget around the highest reward you happen to see. Record an opportunity before accepting it, then track approval and payment separately. That turns a general impression of profitability into something you can evaluate. It also prevents you from adding together a practice test, screening attempts and merely advertised rewards as though all of them were money available for an essential bill. A useful personal record distinguishes expected value from an amount actually received.

What is the effective hourly return after screening and setup?

Calculate an hourly equivalent as money actually received × 60 ÷ minutes spent. Equivalent is the key word: this is not a wage or an hour of work the platform will supply whenever you want. Include screening, setup, the test itself and submission. If you also count time spent checking opportunities, use that method consistently across sessions. Otherwise a busy day and a quiet day become impossible to compare fairly, and the most flattering number will dominate your impression.

The first chart uses an entirely hypothetical €10 reward to show the effect of total time. It is not a Testapic or UserTesting rate. The same receipt works out at €30 per hour over twenty minutes but €10 per hour over a full hour. Neither number can sensibly be multiplied into a working week because another compatible study may not exist. This calculation measures a completed example, not the supply of opportunities or a likely monthly income.

Same hypothetical reward, different timeCalculation: hypothetical €10 received, divided by 20, 40 or 60 minutes, then multiplied by 60. Not an official rate or earnings forecast.

€/h
20 min€30/h
40 min€15/h
60 min€10/h

The second chart keeps the same fictional reward and a twenty-minute test, then adds setup and screening. It illustrates time that is easy to overlook, not an observed average. If you have received nothing, do not substitute a promised reward just to make the record look better. Track pending amounts separately and label them as unpaid. This also helps you recognise when a technical issue or an unresolved payment is making a promising-looking session less worthwhile than it first appeared.

Time outside the test changes the resultCalculation: hypothetical €10 for a 20-minute test, plus 0, 10 or 30 extra minutes. €30, €20 and €12 per hour; not platform averages.
Time outside the test changes the result
€/h
Test only€30/h
Plus 10 minutes€20/h
Plus 30 minutes€12/h

Set a time limit before browsing opportunities. After several sessions, ask whether money actually received justifies your effort and data exposure. An activity can be enjoyable while producing little income; an appealing payment from one session does not make it regular work. This is more useful than a monthly promise that ignores periods without suitable studies, technical troubleshooting and payment follow-up. Keep your personal spending needs separate from a stream of opportunities whose frequency you cannot control.

What equipment do you need for a usable recording?

UserTesting’s FAQ requires a microphone for the practice test and says an integrated microphone can be sufficient. It states that the desktop practice test does not require a download, while mobile applicants use the official app. That does not mean every later study works on every device. Check the requirements attached to the specific opportunity, including any camera requirement and browser compatibility. Equipment that works for one format should not be assumed to work for every other format without checking.

The page lists a minimum desktop upload speed of 3 Mbps, checked in November. Upload speed concerns sending data, which matters for video; download speed mainly concerns receiving it. Public requirements are not a substitute for checking current compatibility inside the app. Do not buy a computer or microphone solely on the assumption that enough paid tests will follow to cover the purchase. First assess the equipment you already have, the application route and whether your connection can reliably upload a recording.

How do application, screening and the first test work?

Screening means answering questions to determine whether you fit a study’s intended audience. Joining the panel and qualifying for an individual study are separate steps. Being accepted by the platform does not remove each customer’s criteria. You might be approved, see an opportunity and then turn out not to match it. That sequence alone does not establish an account problem. It is also why an opportunity feed should not be counted as a list of payments you are already entitled to receive.

A careful route from application to payment
  1. 1
    Check eligibility

Confirm country, age requirements and participant conditions; use your real identity and residence.

  2. 2
    Prepare the practice test

Check audio and compatibility. The practice test is an application step, not evidence of income.

  3. 3
    Read each opportunity

Check reward, estimated duration, format and recording scope before screening.

  4. 4
    Follow the scenario

Describe hesitation in your own words and report technical trouble promptly.

  5. 5
    Verify payment

Keep private study references, the displayed status and evidence of actual receipt in PayPal.

For practice, describe an ordinary interface aloud without recording sensitive information: what you expect to find, why you choose a button and what you need in order to understand the page. This is preparation, not a script to recite during studies. A spontaneous, understandable response is more useful than rehearsed commentary unrelated to your actions. Do not look for qualification answers to copy. The purpose is to communicate your own experience clearly, not to imitate a supposed ideal tester profile.

Does Testapic pay through PayPal, and how long does it take?

For the UserTesting route described by the current pages, the FAQ lists PayPal as the only payment method. It says payments for completed tests are usually sent 14 days later, checked in November. Usually is not an unconditional guarantee. That sending interval also does not establish when money will reach your bank if you subsequently transfer it out of PayPal. Keep the study’s completion date, the platform’s payment status and the payment provider’s own processing stages separate in your records.

Before starting, check whether your PayPal account can receive this type of payment in your country and which currency will be used. Ask the provider about any conversion charges, local restrictions and wallet conditions. Seeing the PayPal name on a platform does not establish that your particular account can receive the reward. Do not use someone else’s account to work around a restriction. A clear payment route is something to establish before committing time, not after accumulating expectations about a balance.

If a payment appears late, gather the test reference, date, reward and current status, then contact support through an official channel. Send only the necessary evidence and do not publicly share confidential study material. On tax, the FAQ says UserTesting does not withhold tax and participants are responsible for determining their obligations. Check with the authority where you live rather than assuming small payments are exempt. This guide sets no tax threshold and does not replace advice suited to your own circumstances.

What is recorded, and how should you interpret complaints?

A recorded test can expose your screen, voice and sometimes your face. The UserTesting privacy policy describes sharing with processors and within the group, along with access, correction and erasure rights subject to legal limitations. It does not promise immediate, universal deletion when an account closes. Read the notice applicable to your participation and ask questions before accepting recording you are uncomfortable with. Consent to a study should be an informed decision, not an afterthought prompted by the reward.

Close messaging windows, work documents and banking tabs, and hide notification previews. Check your surroundings if the study requests a camera. Do not enter confidential employer or client information just to satisfy a scenario. If an instruction appears to demand unnecessary sensitive information, pause and ask how to proceed. A screenshot sent to support also needs care: crop or mask unrelated private information without concealing the technical issue you are reporting. Keeping a separate, tidy study environment reduces avoidable exposure.

The participant page’s embedded reviews include an allegation of account deactivation and cancelled earnings, and another comment about repetition in the process. These are individual statements displayed on the UserTesting page, not established findings about all historical Testapic accounts. They do not supply a complaint rate or demonstrate the cause of a particular suspension. Positive comments about clarity likewise do not prove that every participant receives regular payments. Use such reports to identify questions worth asking, not to predict your outcome.

Testapic review: UserTesting, Userlytics or Microtaches?

UserTesting is not a completely separate competitor to Testapic in this comparison: it is the route the domain now points towards. Our UserTesting review explores that option further. For a different platform, see our Userlytics review. Compare admission, formats and payment rather than assuming that more registrations automatically produce more paid opportunities. Additional accounts also mean additional conditions to understand and personal data to manage, even before you qualify for anything.

The official Userlytics FAQ describes typical tests lasting 20 to 40 minutes and does not guarantee invitation frequency. It states that approved tests are paid once every 15 days and refers to the email linked to your PayPal account. That cycle is not a promise of payment exactly fifteen days after each session: approval comes first. Check the reward and other conditions in the invitation rather than transferring a figure from another service to this one.

MicrotachesShort tasks with displayed instructionsOps; withdrawals within 3 weeks at mostReserve, thresholds and identity

Sources: Testapic/UserTesting pages and Userlytics FAQ, checked in November; Microtaches rules. Timing descriptions are not directly equivalent.

Userlytics’ FAQ also says portions of feedback may be used as examples for prospective customers or in marketing material, and tells people not to join if that use is unacceptable to them. This deserves as much attention as a reward amount. Our broader micro-task platform comparison offers another decision framework, but it does not make Microtaches a website-testing service. Choose according to the activity and conditions you actually want, including how much recorded personal feedback you are prepared to share.

How does Microtaches work as a separate option?

Microtaches offers short micro-tasks with instructions displayed in each task. Registration is free and reserved for adults under the legal age rules of their country of residence; an account opened by a minor is refused at identity verification. The team reviews and approves each account, and the profile questionnaire must be completed. Task numbers vary by day, country and profile. This is a separate model, not a promise of constant availability or an alternative way to obtain a UserTesting study.

An accepted task must be completed within 60 minutes, and at most three can be held at once. An accepted task left unanswered when time runs out incurs a 20-Ops penalty. Some responses are checked manually before credit. Ops have two separate values: one Ops equals €0.0042 for withdrawals and €0.0082 in the gift-card shop. These are redemption values, not hourly earnings. Neither tells you how long it will take to accumulate a balance because available tasks and their conditions vary.

Identity verification, also called KYC, becomes available from a 1,000-Ops balance and takes at most seven business days. It is mandatory before a first withdrawal or shop order. The withdrawal minimum is 5,000 Ops alongside a non-withdrawable 10,000-Ops reserve, so a first minimum bank withdrawal requires a 15,000-Ops balance. Payment takes at most three weeks; shop orders take at most two weeks. These rules should be assessed separately from per-test payments on a user-research platform, rather than comparing a threshold with a single advertised study reward.

Which withdrawal methods does Microtaches offer?

This section concerns Microtaches only, not Testapic. Bank transfer requires an IBAN. Also check that the provider serves your country and can receive the payment with details matching your verified identity. See the detailed withdrawal conditions.

The annual withdrawal cap is €2,500. A bank transfer outside Europe carries a fixed 800-Ops fee. Banks in some countries do not issue IBANs, so check with your bank rather than assuming the transfer will work. A listed payment method does not establish provider coverage in your country. For gift cards, check the shop without confusing shop value with withdrawable cash. This distinction matters when comparing options for an actual expense, because a useful gift card and money in a bank account are not the same thing.

Our verdict: is Testapic worth your time?

The main questions are whether you are comfortable describing an interface aloud and whether you can tolerate screening. If you enjoy observing how something works, already have the equipment and accept the recording scope, a cautious application may make sense. If you need a fixed amount every week, the published information does not support that expectation. Do not finance a necessary purchase with studies that have not yet been offered, completed and paid, however appealing an individual reward may look.

A balanced verdict on the current Testapic route

A possible occasional extra assessed under the displayed UserTesting rules, not an old rate card assumed to apply universally.

Strengths
  • Relationship with UserTesting confirmed by an official announcement.
  • Reward disclosed for each test.
  • Several publicly described formats.
Limitations
  • No established regular income or universal fixed rate.
  • Country, age and legacy balance require confirmation for your circumstances.
  • Recording and screening require time and attention.
Best for: People who already have the equipment, feel comfortable speaking aloud and can check payment access and privacy conditions.

Set a personal stopping rule: too much screening time, discomfort with requested data or an unclear payment route are all good reasons to pause. Starting an application does not oblige you to make it worthwhile at any cost. Our guides to paid product testing and becoming a product tester also distinguish interface research, receiving a product and receiving spendable money. Choose based on what you actually need and can verify, rather than on the broad label of testing.

Has Testapic become UserTesting?
The Testapic domain currently redirects to UserTesting, and an official announcement confirms the acquisition. The participant landing page also presents UserTesting formats. This does not prove that every historical account and balance automatically follows the same process. If you had an older account, ask support how to access its history and which conditions apply before creating new login details or assuming that an old balance appears in a different dashboard.
How much does each Testapic test pay?
The currently published rule is a variable reward displayed for each test. UserTesting names format, duration and customer demand among the factors affecting the amount. Base your estimate on the amount shown for each activity, total time spent and money actually received. Read the opportunity in your dashboard and do not turn one attractive reward into a monthly income estimate: qualifying for studies and finding suitable opportunities remain separate conditions, and an advertised amount is not money already received.
What is the Testapic payment threshold?
Do not treat a historical threshold as a current rule without confirmation. The UserTesting route’s FAQ describes payments for completed tests but does not establish a cumulative Testapic threshold applying to every account. Ask support about the minimum, currency and process for an older balance. Saying that no threshold has been confirmed is not the same as guaranteeing that no threshold could apply to your particular account or circumstances.
How long does payment take?
UserTesting’s FAQ says payments for completed tests are usually sent 14 days later, checked in November. This is not an unconditional guarantee of arrival in your bank. A later transfer from PayPal may follow its own conditions. Keep the study reference, date and status; if payment appears late, contact official support without publicly sharing confidential study content. Separate the platform sending a payment from your own subsequent withdrawal from the wallet.
Can you receive rewards without PayPal?
The current UserTesting route’s FAQ lists PayPal as the only payment method, checked in November. Any historical Testapic arrangement needs separate clarification from support. Before participating, ask the provider whether your account can receive this type of payment in your country and check currencies and possible fees. The Microtaches withdrawal methods discussed in this article belong to a different service and should not be read as Testapic payment options.
Does Testapic accept Belgium and Madagascar?
A French-language page does not guarantee acceptance of every French-speaking country. The introduction pages do not establish blanket eligibility for Belgium or Madagascar here, or a precise minimum age for this route. Check the participant terms and registration form, then ask support if necessary. Always use your real residence. Neither a false address nor a technical workaround is an acceptable solution when a country is missing or a local payment route is unclear.
Do you need to buy a microphone or webcam?
UserTesting requires a microphone for the practice test and says an integrated microphone can be sufficient. Camera requirements depend on the format and study. Check your existing device and the specific opportunity before buying anything; do not spend solely on the assumption that future tests will cover the cost. A quiet location, understandable audio and a connection suitable for uploading data are practical checks before an actual recorded session.
Why does screening not always lead to a test?
Screening checks whether your profile matches the intended audience. Acceptance by the platform therefore does not guarantee access to each study or any particular frequency of tests. Answer honestly instead of searching for a supposedly winning response. Count screening time in your own assessment and distinguish opportunities displayed, studies completed and money actually received. That makes it easier to decide whether the activity is worthwhile without treating every unsuccessful screening as evidence of an account problem.
Is Userlytics a separate alternative?
Userlytics is another user-testing option. Its FAQ describes typical sessions lasting 20 to 40 minutes without guaranteeing invitation frequency, and payments for approved tests once every 15 days, checked in November. Approval comes before payment. Compare equipment and recording uses as well as rewards: its FAQ allows excerpts to be used as examples for prospective customers or in marketing material. Decide whether that exposure suits you before joining, not after submitting a recording.
Does Microtaches offer the same tests?
No. Microtaches is presented here as a separate option offering short micro-tasks with instructions displayed in each task, not as a website-testing service. Free registration is reserved for adults, with team review and a profile questionnaire. Rewards use Ops and withdrawals have their own thresholds, reserve and identity verification. Availability varies by day, country and profile, so the different model still should not be treated as a guaranteed source of regular income.
